Slip Sliding away…

The nearer your destination the more you’re slip sliding away… anyone know this song? Well I experienced it! I have been on maintenance since August of 2007 and had done quite well until I became ill and had to have surgery, nothing too serious but it was enough to depress me and of course that gave me the right to eat. I also decided to move and that meant switching schools for my son. For those of you who don’t already know, my son has high functioning autism, so the move was hard and challenging but he is a trooper and is happy at his new school! All about this time my son’s father came back into his life, remarried and with 2 kids. Then my Dr. mentions that I may be pre-menopausal —– excuse me?! I thought I would be in my 20’s forever.

Anyway, needless to say life is a bit rocky for me. But I am getting back on track and starting the new Momentum by Medifast package! I am so excited to lose what I gained back. I am pretty upset at myself for getting to this point but all I can do is get back in the groove and move! It will be spring soon after a long cold winter in Oregon and I am excited to wear short sleeves and flip flops. :)

For those of you who have lost your momentum, get it back with Momentum by Medifast and let’s get skinny baby!

Fourth of July Lean & Green!

The beauty of Medifast is that you don’t have to deprive yourself at a BBQ if you plan ahead! I plan on having a nice grilled chicken breast all wrapped up in a few romaine lettuce leaves, a few dill pickles, and a drizzle of mustard with steamed veggies on the side. Talk about fireworks in your mouth - YUMMY! This way I feel like I have a bun but it’s lettuce :) AND I don’t add to my own buns LOL! You can even do this with a nice lean ground beef patty, I am telling you it’s delicious and very filling. Medifast even allows a little ketchup if you don’t care for mustard.

I hope everyone has a happy and healthy 4th of July! This can be YOUR own Independence Day - your new skinny life awaits you with Medifast!

Repeat after me… “I am worth it and I can do this! Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!”

Take care!

Back from Mexico!

What a wonderful trip I had, I can’t wait to go back next year. I wanted to travel as light as possible so I didn’t take Medifast with me. I had never been through customs before either and I didn’t want to attract any attention to all my packets. The food at the resort was incredible, they had a lot of fried cheesy items but I could also have egg white omelets filled with veggies for breakfast, fresh fruit and shrimp for lunch and yummy salads and chicken dishes at dinner. The sunsets were unbelievable and very relaxing! I felt really great eating healthy and feel that after a few more pounds lost I can do maintenance! I had time to reflect on my life and how I want to live my forties - healthy and happy! I still don’t have the courage to do a full stand-up bikini shot but maybe next time and with the help of Medifast, it will come one day! Well, maybe just a cute sundress instead :)

This blog seems to be a bit slow lately; where are all the Medifasters? How are you doing on the program and do you have any questions? I challenge the other bloggers to give updates this week. Come on, lets support each other in the war against chubbiness, LOL! We have been slacking on our updates when Medifast has given us this great opportunity to help others and ourselves! Let’s get skinny baby - woohoo!

Getting Ready for Vacation

After gaining some weight back and feeling awful, I got right back on Medifast and have lost 8 lbs. I feel great and am more determined than ever.

I am going to Puerto Vallarta in May so I have 6 weeks to look and feel my best for the trip! I have never been out of the US and am very excited!

We will be staying at an all-inclusive resort filled with free drinks and food so it will be a challenge, but I will have some Medifast with me! I plan on sticking to fresh veggies, seafood and meats and maybe try a few exotic fruits every so often.

I am going to swim with dolphins and lay in hammocks with a coconut shell filled with Medifast tropical punch and maybe, just maybe a drop of rum…hee hee! Hey, a girl’s gotta live and Medifast helps me get through some rough situations.

My office is always having a potluck or party with donuts, cakes, you name it! It makes me sad to watch people who are visibly uncomfortable eating all the sugar and chips with dip. In a way it helps me keep on track because I never want to be there again!
I make my Medifast and sit far away from the tables of food. If it’s a nice day I go for a walk at lunch.

On that note, I have fallen in love with some popular in-home walking videos. Wow, do they make you sweat! Great workout and easy on the the body because it’s natural movement.

Take care everyone! Stick with Medifast and get skinny baby!

Curses on Girl Scout Cookies

All I have to say is curses to the Girl Scout cookies! Although they are a great group and raise money for a good cause, I could not resist the thin mints! I ate one, then another, then another. So after that, I figured since I had a few cookies why not get some Chinese food for lunch?

Wrong answer! I felt so icky and bloated after eating rice and orange chicken on top of beating myself up for being weak and giving in to temptations. My set-back reminded me of how I feel so much better sticking to Medifast and other good foods and smaller portions.

I gained back 6 lbs. this month and can really feel it! I put too much sugar and carbs back in my system and it threw me off big time! I am back on track today and know that it will take me a few days to get back in ketosis and get back to feeling better, it’s just not worth it to get off track.

I am human and will have those off days but making better food choices needs to be my focus. I need to make sure that my success does not warrant eating anything I want. It needs to be a lifestyle change for me to stay healthy.

I cannot stress it enough - STAY ON TRACK WITH MEDIFAST! If you are in the maintenance phase, make healthy food choices! Like many people have quoted - Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!

Here Comes Valentine’s Day

Just when you think you have a handle on things, here comes Valentine’s Day! OK, let’s really think about this tradition, it’s all about hearts right?

Well, lets focus on our hearts then. Being healthy and eating right is the best way to have a healthy heart! Losing those extra pounds so your heart functions better is the best thing you can do for Valentine’s Day this year.

Leave the chocolates alone and have a Medifast Chocolate Pudding instead, or a Medifast Hot Cocoa. The best thing you can do is fall in love with yourself and be the best that you can be. For most of the people reading this, it means losing weight and becoming slimmer and happier!

Now, there are some psychological aspects to this as well, I know it isn’t only about the physical but lets face it, a slimmer body helps our confidence and makes us walk a little taller, laugh a bit more, and can help with the blues and the negativity in our lives.

This lets us get out for some brisk walks and get back into activities that don’t involve the TV or couch! It gives us the energy to play with the kids or pets in our lives. Life is so short, I know it’s cliche but it’s very true! What are you waiting for? Get skinny baby!

The Holidays are Upon Us

Hi friends! The Holidays are upon us, what an exciting time! For some of us this means “Yikes, I have to be around all that food and try to resist gaining another 10 lbs. in a month’s time.”

Well, make this year different. Make this year about family and friends. Focus on the true meaning of Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year (whatever the true meaning is to you). Food is not the true meaning, your health is more important!

I am in no way saying not to enjoy the food, but try to eat smaller portions, take your time and enjoy the experience. There are many ways to survive the Holidays on Medifast. Some of you are just beginning and need to stay on the 5&1 program religiously, have some turkey with steamed veggies and a nice salad, leave the stuffing and mashed potatoes for another year when you are in maintenance and more in control of your diet.

I have used the Cream of Chicken Soup over chicken and turkey before, beats having fattening gravy. Just think of how proud you will feel the next morning knowing that you stayed on track! Medifast also has a Holiday Survival Guide in the downloads. There are recipes and strategies to help you…

Maintanence, Here I Come

It’s time for me to think about maintenance. I feel that I am nearing my ideal weight and feeling comfortable with myself. I ask myself “Am I ready?” and “Will I be able to add food items back into my diet slowly?” This is both exciting and scary at the same time.

Medifast makes it so easy to stick to the program that I feel like I need to go to a recovery program to start eating again LOL! Medifasters anonymous, maybe I should start a group :). In all seriousness, I have been referring to the Medifast diet book about maintenance and it talks about your mindset while coming off the 5&1 program. I think it will be a huge help to me and anyone else who feels ready.

If you haven’t read “The Secret Is Out…” yet, please get a copy! It is a great support especially on days when you are struggling and wanting to binge or have that snickers bar. I refer to it quite a bit. Oh and don’t sabotage yourself on Halloween! The best way to avoid diving into the candy bowl is buying candy you don’t like! I can’t stomach gummy worms and the kids love them so I buy those and that way I stay on track :)…

The Last Two Weeks have been a Blur

Hello Medifasters! I have been sitting at my computer trying to think of what to write this week, I guess this is what they call writers’ block. I am just going to type and see what comes out.

The last two weeks have been a blur. I have been busy with back to school and nightly homework with my son. We are getting back into the school groove after a gorgeous summer. I have started a new position at my job which is exciting, yet I am nervous.

I still have the same struggles staying focused on Medifast, especially due to the fact that I was in a training all last week and it was catered! There were buttery pastries and bagel sandwiches with crispy bacon and melted cheese on them, lunch was always something containing bread, one day was mashed potatoes. Did the caterer know I was in the class and try to sabotage me? LOL…
