Almost at Bikini Goal!

I had hit a plateau in my weight loss and couldn’t figure out why. It turns out I wasn’t eating enough. I misunderstood how to eat the Momentum line. I thought that the flavor infusers were meals! I emailed my friends at Medifast to ask if I was doing it right and they told me that the Flavor Infusers are not meals. Now that I’m back on track and eating enough I’m dropping pounds. I only have 3 pounds to go until I meat my goal of 20 pounds before my cruise.

I’ve noticed such a difference already. I’m wearing clothes that I haven’t pulled out of the drawer in months because I knew they wouldn’t fit. I can remember a couple of months ago lying on my bed pouting after trying on clothes. I can see the mound of clothes piled up on the bed, floor and top of the dresser – nothing fit and it was so depressing.  It’s amazing how great it feels to be turning my body around - again. Yellow polk-a-dot bikini without a cover-up here I come!

My boyfriend said that he wants to make an effort to support me in my weight loss challenge. So when we were running around on his birthday I asked where he wanted to eat and he suggested the Olive Garden – because he is “really trying to help me lose weight.” I just laughed and realized that the gentle giant will never get it because he will always be skinny. It was his birthday and I am determined to make good choices no matter where I am. I was able to fight the urge to jump over the table of the people sitting next to us to eat their tortellini Alfredo and drink their wine. I ordered chicken and steamed vegetables and unsweetened tea. Who goes to the O.G. and eats healthy? Apparently I do.

Halfway to Goal

I am over half way to my goal and right on time. I’ve lost 12 pounds so far.

I finally got my weekend routine back down. It was much harder to stay on the program with more down time and social activities. This weekend was the first in the 3 weeks that I actually had a loss on Monday (from Friday.) I would work really hard all week and have a good loss by Friday but would then stall and stay at the same weight all weekend. I stayed focused this weekend and stuck to the 5 & 1 Plan with Momentum. When I got in my suit this morning I realized that my “tight” suit was not so snug anymore and was actually very comfortable.

With the cold and rainy weather I’m dreaming about my cruise. With my slimmer figure I’m looking forward to it!

I lost 8 pounds in 1 week! I love seeing the scale go down!

I haven’t noticed a huge change in my clothes yet but I have in my hands. On the morning of my 30th birthday my boyfriend gave me a cute right hand ring. I felt horrible because we’ve discussed my ring sizes (for each finger- hint, hint) and when I tried to put on this ring my fingers were so swollen that I had to jam it on. I was so worried because I can imagine getting engaged and not being able to fit the ring on! What a horrible way to ruin a moment of a lifetime! But in the past few days I have noticed the ring spinning around my finger.

I got my shipment of Momentum by Medifast™ and I love it! After reading up on the Momentum line, it seems perfect for my goal, losing 20 pounds in 45 days for my cruise.

I got in a routine with the same Medifast meals and forgot how good some of the other meals are. The Momentum Banana Crème and the Cappuccino are amazing! All of the flavor infusers are so delicious. I am making my new routine:

  • 7am – Momentum Cappuccino or Banana Crème shake for the drive to work
  • 10am – Choice of Flavor Infuser
  • Noon – Choice of Medifast soup or stew
  • 3pm – Chocolate or Vanilla shake
  • 6pm – Choice of Flavor infuser for the drive home from work
  • 7:30pm – Lean & green dinner (usually grilled chicken on a salad because it’s easiest)
  • 9pm – Snack on Soy crisp while watching TV

The great part about this is that even though I’m eating all day long I’m not taking away from my day. I keep bottles of water at my desk and when I get hungry I just pull one out, pick what I want to eat, add mix to water, shake and yum!

Off to a Great Weight Loss Start!

As I was getting ready for work this morning I was looking at my options of outfits and thought “oh, I don’t want to wear this again.” I looked at the smaller clothes that I want to wear and thought “stop it Heather, you should be excited because this should be the last time you get to wear this outfit cause it’s going to be too big for you soon.”

I got on the scale this morning and after 3 days of Medifast I have lost 4 pounds. That’s 1/5 of my goal of 20 pounds in 45 days. At this rate it will be 20 pounds in 2 weeks! I am feeling great today. I don’t feel hungry until it’s time to eat and I have a lot of energy. I can’t wait for my cruise and feeling good in a new bathing suit!

Thank you, but really “NO Thank you”

Day 2 – I am fighting the temptations that come up like Jennifer Garner in Alias. My co-worker brought me a brownie desert left over from an event and I told her to take it away. Of course the little ‘Enabler’ left it on my desk and ran out of the room. I offered it to everyone else in the office and couldn’t find a volunteer to eat it. I left it on the front table with a ‘take me’ sign, knowing that someone would claim the tasty treat and headed to the kitchen to make a Medifast pudding. After finishing my pudding and passing the offending desert 3 times I picked it up and threw it away in the Enabler’s trash can because it was still so tempting.

Last night I had to explain to my boyfriend that I really appreciate when he makes me dinner but he has to stop. It’s so nice to have someone cook for you. I can’t tell him enough that I can’t eat like he does. He’s 6’7” and is running all day long. He agreed to try new ways of cooking and now we are try to cook healthy meals together.

I ordered the new Momentum by Medifast products to speed up my results, I hear it’s perfect for the “get ready for summer” crowd looking to drop 10-20 pounds quickly for bathing suit weather. I can’t wait to try the new meals and Flavor Infusers. Bathing suit here I come…

Back for More

I recently celebrated my 30th birthday – woo who. My best friend gave me the very generous gift of a cruise to Mexico for her and I to go on this April. Not only was I shocked that she gave such a gift but I was freaked because I am in no way prepared to for a bikini.

I looked at the calendar and figured out how many days I have to shed some weight. Starting today I have 45 days until we take off for warm weather and crystal clear waters. I can very easily drop these pounds with Medifast. I am giving myself the realistic goal of 20 pounds. I am going to use 5 & 1 to loose 20 [pounds] in 45 [days.]

Last night I pulled out all my shakers and extracts and got ready for my first week back on the 5 & 1 plan. I filled a bag with oatmeal, soups and bullion cubes to take to work.  With Day Light Savings time I lost an hour of sleep and of course woke up late. I rushed around and made it out the door in time. Before I left I didn’t forget to make my chocolate shake in my ultimate shaker. I poured my shake in a glass with a straw and rinsed out the shaker. As I was heading out of the neighborhood I hit a huge pothole and splashed my shake all over, the car and my sleeve. I could drink straight from the shaker but I like a straw when I’m driving. I will be getting a sippy-cup on my trip to the store after work.

As I drifted off to sleep last night I prepared myself to be strong for the day ahead of me. When I first started this plan 2 years ago I worked 13 hour days and could only eat on the go. Now I have food around me all day long. We get a free lunch everyday, I am regularly entertaining clients and I just watched my office-mate refill the candy jar that sits under my light switch. I know that I am strong enough to turn all these temptations away (again).

I will keep you up to date on my 20 in 45 quest.

Adventures on Crutches

This past extended weekend was packed with adventures. I had a couple of parties to go to and a long list of errands to do. On Saturday, I left a pool party and headed home to get ready for an evening fund-raiser. I got home and let the dogs out. I wanted to give them some playtime before running off again, so decided to let them go swimming in the bay behind our home. I can’t just tell them go a head and get in the water for a bit.” So after saying my hellos, still in my bathing suit, I ran down the pier with my dogs in toe and jumped feet first into the water.

I didn’t notice it was low tide and only 3 feet of water (not 5-6 like I was expecting.) I landed and knew instantly that I broke my ankle. I am now in a cast and on crutches for 3-6 weeks. My grandma always told me not jump into shallow water. The good thing is that my long list of errands just got moved over to the “honey-do list.”

I’m not able to carry open drinks or soup without someone’s help. Luckily, at work the small office fridge is right behind me so all I have to do is wheel my chair over, open the fridge and grab a Ready-To-Drink Shake. I brought my remaining supply in my backpack and have a new order being shipped right to my office. If Medifast wasn’t so convenient I would probably starve. I even have a bottle of water in the fridge and have made shakes in my shaker right at my desk.

I surely need Medifast now that I am going to be avoiding moving and lying around as much as possible. Wish me luck…

Is Medifast a Life-Long Commitment?

I’ve had several people ask me lately if I have to eat only Medifast for the rest of my life to keep my weight down. The answer is no, not unless you want to.

Medifast helps you to lose weight (quickly) by controlled diet. Once you reach your goal weight you will start transition. In transition you will continue to eat your Medifast Meals and gradually add calories back into your diet. Medifast has outlined in awesome detail how to do this. They give you meal plan ideas for the transition phase and maintenance. Read all the information Medifast has to offer

Yup, I have had a couple of times where I put pounds back on. But that was because I was not smart. You cannot go back to eating junk like homemade baked fettuccine alfredo and ice cream every night (even if your skinny boyfriend does). Bad eating habits are how I got to this. Those times that I gained I just jump on the program for a few weeks and off they go!

I have been back on the 5 &1 Plan for 5 days now. In 5 days I’ve lost 5 pounds! That’s not as good as my first 4 days on Medifast, when I lost 9 pounds, but I will take it.

This morning I had to laugh at myself. I had a root beer float for breakfast. OK, so it was a French Vanilla Medifast shake and diet root beer mixed together but reminded me of high school. When I was in high school I would have coffee ice cream for breakfast. I know all too well, bad habits are hard to break. Wish me luck on my next 10 pounds.

I started a new job!

I started a new job! I left my job with ridiculous hours and senseless problems. I am now working in a different department for another well-known hotel chain in downtown Baltimore. I am hoping that I will be able to get back to a “normal” schedule.

I had some time off before I started. I didn’t know what to do with myself with so much free time. I did house work, caught up on my reading, and I even got a tan. I tried to be a nice girlfriend and show off my culinary know-how by making dinner and dessert every day. Not to brag (but you know I’m gonna), but I am a pretty good cook. I thought, “show him how well I can cook maybe I’ll get a ring soon…” Oh boy, did it backfire. Not only am I getting requests for the meals and tasty treats I made but I had to eat them (’cause I worked hard on them) which caused an increase on my scale. First of all I never should have shown that I have a knack for cooking because I was never expected to cook. I was too busy working and I ate only healthy food. I will have to start cooking good-tasting, healthy meals for everyone. I know better to use my old cooking powers for good over evil. So, I’m back on the 5 & 1 Plan to get rid of those pesky “I was way too bored pounds.” What’s the saying about idle hands?

Now I’m getting settled in my new job. I never know what to expect on the first day. You might work a full day or you might just be filling out paperwork. I wasn’t even sure I would have a desk, let alone an office. As I was getting ready to head out the door I grabbed a small gift bag and filled it with my Medifast Meals, just in case it would be a full day. I got to work and was introduced to everyone, got an extended tour of the hotel and I carried my gift bag the entire time. I finally made my way to the offices and was introduced to the two nice ladies that I will be sharing an office with. They asked who gave me a gift already and I explained Medifast is a gift I give to myself.

It has been a long time since I shared an office. I would always just go about my day with no observers. Now every time I make a meal, whether I’m eating oatmeal or a savory soup someone is asking “what smells so good?”  One of my officemates is dieting with a combination of pills and “intake monitoring.” She can tell me the number of calories, fat grams and carbs in everything she eats. She keeps track of all her food on a website and then takes some magic pill. I’m not even going to get into what the magic pill makes happen in the bathroom. I’m so happy I have a healthy diet that all I have to do is eat 6 meals a day and then celebrate with the scale soon after. Someone mentioned that we should have a weight-loss competition in the office. I can’t participate – it just wouldn’t be fair to everyone else because I have a secret weapon. ;-p
