I started a new job!

I started a new job! I left my job with ridiculous hours and senseless problems. I am now working in a different department for another well-known hotel chain in downtown Baltimore. I am hoping that I will be able to get back to a “normal” schedule.

I had some time off before I started. I didn’t know what to do with myself with so much free time. I did house work, caught up on my reading, and I even got a tan. I tried to be a nice girlfriend and show off my culinary know-how by making dinner and dessert every day. Not to brag (but you know I’m gonna), but I am a pretty good cook. I thought, “show him how well I can cook maybe I’ll get a ring soon…” Oh boy, did it backfire. Not only am I getting requests for the meals and tasty treats I made but I had to eat them (’cause I worked hard on them) which caused an increase on my scale. First of all I never should have shown that I have a knack for cooking because I was never expected to cook. I was too busy working and I ate only healthy food. I will have to start cooking good-tasting, healthy meals for everyone. I know better to use my old cooking powers for good over evil. So, I’m back on the 5 & 1 Plan to get rid of those pesky “I was way too bored pounds.” What’s the saying about idle hands?

Now I’m getting settled in my new job. I never know what to expect on the first day. You might work a full day or you might just be filling out paperwork. I wasn’t even sure I would have a desk, let alone an office. As I was getting ready to head out the door I grabbed a small gift bag and filled it with my Medifast Meals, just in case it would be a full day. I got to work and was introduced to everyone, got an extended tour of the hotel and I carried my gift bag the entire time. I finally made my way to the offices and was introduced to the two nice ladies that I will be sharing an office with. They asked who gave me a gift already and I explained Medifast is a gift I give to myself.

It has been a long time since I shared an office. I would always just go about my day with no observers. Now every time I make a meal, whether I’m eating oatmeal or a savory soup someone is asking “what smells so good?”  One of my officemates is dieting with a combination of pills and “intake monitoring.” She can tell me the number of calories, fat grams and carbs in everything she eats. She keeps track of all her food on a website and then takes some magic pill. I’m not even going to get into what the magic pill makes happen in the bathroom. I’m so happy I have a healthy diet that all I have to do is eat 6 meals a day and then celebrate with the scale soon after. Someone mentioned that we should have a weight-loss competition in the office. I can’t participate – it just wouldn’t be fair to everyone else because I have a secret weapon. ;-p
