Ups & Downs

Where do I begin?  The last month has been full of ups and big downs.

Up – I moved from my home town to a new home on the water. Moving is an amazing source of exercise. As I was arranging my new kitchen I had to make room for my Medifast drawer. My boyfriend asked why I still have Medifast food. I explained that I love the food. It’s a part of me now and I crave it.

Up – I took a vacation. I went to the beach for an entire week with my family. It was a great way to relax and reflect on how much I give to work.

Up – I took more time off from work to research new job opportunities. Did you know that there are jobs that allow time to see friends or spend holidays and weekends with family?!?! I want one!

Big Down – My dad had a heart attack. My dad has been big since I can remember. He was very active growing up and when he stopped sports he gained weight – like father, like daughter. I have been trying to get him to start Medifast but even after seeing my success he just won’t try it. It goes to show, if you don’t want it bad enough, you won’t do it. You have to be ready to change. Change can be scary, even if it is for the better. Medifast changed my life, that’s for sure!

Up – you’re reading this so maybe you are going to make a change for the better. Being healthy is a really good thing – really.

1 year ago I wrote about the quote, “A year from now I will wish I had started today.” I am so happy that I did! You will be too.

I am so happy for you. I have been looking at starting Medifast for about 1 year and I finally purchased it. I did not want to start until July 1 but my husband wanted me to start sooner. I did great the first 3 days, failed the 4th day, fine the 5, 6, and 7th day. Lost 6 pounds the first week and had a bad day. The second week has been ok. . . . we had 2 cookouts and 3 birthday parties. . . . I weigh in tomorrow but I am still excited although I have had a crazy week. I am truly finally ready to lose the weight however, I am weening myself away from food. I never realized how food has become my friend. . . . a bad friend of course. . . but I am finally moving forward.

Hi Heather,

I’ve been following your story and Julie’s. You guys are amazing. I’m sorry to hear about your Dad. It is very hard watching loved struggle with weight issue, knowing that there is something that can be done if they want it. I was in the same situation myself with my husband, not since we were dating 14 years ago have I seen my husband’s true weight 200. He has gained up to his highest ever at 290. My husband works for the Hospitality industry as well and I know how crazy the hours can be. My husband’s stress levels were sooo bad from work that I was concerned he was headed for a heart attack. So we started on Medifast June 7, 2007 and I’m down 8-lbs and my Husband is down 20. We are so excited about this diet. He wants to lose 90 total and I would like to lose 50 definitely but 60 would be hot. I have a mother who actually did the diet back in the 80’s when it was just liquid and she lost fast, but over the years without any real committment to any form of diet she eventually gained weight. Hopefully she will want to try it again, when she sees my success. I hope you and your loved ones stay healthy. I will keep you up to date on my progress.

I am fully motivated by your story and before and after pictures. I just purchased the program today. I weigh 170lbs. I desperately want to lose 20lbs. I already joined a women’s fitness center, but I’m looking for something to jumpstart my weightloss program. I have three small children and I WANT MY PREBABY BODY BACK NOW!!!
