Hi, Will I lose weight if I only have ten pounds to lose? I started a new medication last year and put on the weight, I was happy at my previous weight but I am not really considered overweight. I would not dare show my stomach in public,I do enjoy water sports in the summer and i avoided all the fun last summer. I have an apple shape body and my weight goes right to my stomach. Will Medifast work for me? Stacey

Hi Jane,

I have had the same problem with the chili, so here is what I suggest:

Make sure that you don't add more than 3/4 cup of water to it. When you microwave it do it for 2 minutes and then let it set a little (maybe another 2 minutes) then microwave again - this will get more of the liquid to evaporate. If the beans are still hard then try letting it set longer after the first initial 2 minutes.

The great thing about medifast is that if you are having probblems with a particular food item there are so many more to choose from. My favorite is the beef stew. It always sets up good and the flavor and texture is just like any other store bought stew.

I love this program! So easy to follow, fairly inexpensive and I can enjoy dinner with my family. I too, find that I am not at all hungry in the morning and have to force myself to have a meal/supplement! By afternoon and evening I am hungry, or at least think I am! My most difficult time is at NIGHT!! Any tips or pointers to avoid the kitchen at night? I am also having a difficult time making the chili meal. The beans don't soften and it's very thin. What am I doing wrong?. I've tried the microwave and stovetop.
Thanks!!

Rena - how is it going for you? It has been 2 weeks since your June 14th message - you should be used to the diet by now. Don't wait to eat the in the morning - and never go more than 3 hours without something. It is all about keeping the sugar levels in your brain very low & very constant. Just know that if you stick with Medifast IT WILL WORK and YOU CAN DO IT. Loosing weight is hard work, there are no miracles here. Medifast just makes it as easy as possible to loose as quickly as possible. Even if you loose a pound a week, that is a VERY GOOD weight loss. Be patient and stick with it, if I can do it, so can you!

Ladies - I LOVE the comments of enpowerment for 40+ women! Yes, you can still be sexy and strong in "middle age." I am 44 and have I lost 30 lbs in 2 months. I want to loose another 10 before maintenance. Having always felt chubby my whole life it is such a huge thing for me to feel so thin. Goodbye frumpy "mom jeans" and hello low-waist sexy jeans!! Go girls, go!!

Hi Julie and Lois
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm down 8 lbs and coming up on the 2 week mark (tommorrow). My Husband is down a whopping 19 lbs (I'm so happy for him). I know that my weight comes off sometimes in clumps and then sometimes steady so I'm trying real hard not to weigh myself everyday (I'm so bad, it's really just a habit from being an avid dieter). I do see myself in the mirror thinner in the face, and I think that I feel thinner in my thighs so I'm sure the inches are melting off. I can't wait for the pant size to go down that will be the true indicator of inches lost. It really doesn't matter if I lose everything in 6 or even 8 mos. I promised myself that next year for my 40th (June 11th) that I would be the sexiest and hottest I've ever been to date. So I will keep you up to date on my progress. This is soo fun to share each others progress, never got to do this before with any other diet. I'll keep in touch - Kathy

Hi Kathy, men always lose faster than women. In all honesty I hated weighing myself and waited a month before I did, I lost 40 lbs in 6 months but that was due to some set backs. I went off how my clothes fit rather than numbers, there were weeks I would lose nothing but my pants were looser. Keep up with Medifast and you will ee the results, if the scale gets you down stop weighing weekly and focus on how you feel and how your clothes fit. My goal was 50 and I am close to it. The thing is I feel great and feel like I have lost 50 lbs but the scale doesnt reflect it, so I dont get too crazy over the numbers :) Dont get discouraqed, everyone loses differently and you will get there! Keep in touch and let me know how you are!

Kathy, congrats on the five pounds but don't get discouraged if you don't lose that much next week. It took me a YEAR to lose 50 pounds but it was a steady pound a week, never a plateau. I have a very slow metabolism and was happy with the pound a week as on every other diet I lost nothing or even gained on canned shake diet. I'm not sure I can mention the name. Hang in there . It gets easier every day.

I just started the plan June 7th been on it a week and I plan on losing a definite 50 pounds but want to ultimately lose 60. My husband started with me and he wants to lose 90 lbs. I am down 5 lbs for the first week my husband is down 15 lbs. I'm not jealous but was expecting to lose more. I noticed that you lost slow and steady. Is it ok to ask what your goal was and how long it took you. I know the closer I am to my weight goal the slower the weight comes off. I know from the past any diet requires at least a 6 to 8 mos. committment. I just didn't want to get discouraged too fast at having too high of expectations.
