Hi...
I have been reading up on this a bit and have noticed blogs about falling off, and gaining the weight back, and once again losing it when going back on MF.

For the people who have done this: do you gain the weight back just by eating relatively healthy, non-MF foods or is it because of unhealthy choices? I would really like to know from someone who is maintaining if this is something that you can do on your own after completing the program, or is it a lifetime committement to MF?

I would like to be able to lose the weight with the help of MF but also be able to live with making good choices without MF for my whole life. Thanks for the feedback!!

Hello!
It is so inspiring to read all of the posts and positive comments about rapid weight loss, especially in the first week. I know if I can see even a 5-6# weight loss in the first week, I will be able to stick to it.

Today is my first day and I love the Dutch Chocolate shakes, but the oatmeal was really yucky! Any suggestions to make it taste better?

Thanks so much!

Dear Heather,
I can really relate to you. I lost 60lbs and within 1 1/2 years I have put it back on. It has been a very harsh reality. All those clothes I worked so hard to fit into are collecting dust at the back of my closet. NOT ANYMORE. I just purchased the program tonight and I am ready.

Hello,I've been on the diet for 3 days, and I lost 5 lbs. I know it's going to be a stuggle every once in awhile, but you have to be determined to be healthy. I'm a manager of a steakhouse,it so easy just to eat what ever I want. I have to change my mind set. The shakes are a lot better when you blend them with ice. I also look forward to eating a dill pickle everyday- something with texture. I ordered the variety pack to get me started, and a couple of days later I orderd some of the snacks, chili, and eggs. I also gave up soda, which you'll have a caffenine headache the first 3 days, but they were just empty calories. My biggest hurdle will be - not to drink any alcohol, but I'm determined. I've also tried every diet in the books, diet pills, ect... I need support and advice to do this and to suceed. Wish me luck!!!

Robin, Thank you for your in-sight and sharing your story. I am happy to see that this is real and you can loose a good amount of weight in a short period of time. I too was looing into the bypass, but my family did not like that idea, and I too was scared about the complications that might occur. Did you excerise while on MF?
I did not see the ready to drink shakes but I will look again. After much thouth this weekend. I am going to give this a try. What can I loose? Weight!! Ha Ha I have tried EVERYTHING ELSE too! I am just sick of it all!! This will be my last WHORA!! Thanks for the good wishes and hopefully I will see you again online and give you an update. Take care and keep up the good work!

I went on Medifast last June and by September had lost almost 40 lbs. I felt fantastic. During the fall, we moved in to a new house, moved our office, had a death in the family and I slacked on what I was suppose to eat. I finally faced the scale again, and had gained back almost 20lbs. I am back on Medifast again, and after 4 days, already feel better and know I can do it again. Reading the blogs really helps and I will do it daily to help inspire and keep me on track.
Thank you Heather for sharing.

This is the facts from a real life MF user. I am a registered nurse and started the program last June weighing 261. I was desperate. I was considering gastric bypass but my husband wouldn't let me. I was really scared of bypass because I knew the dangers associated with it. I had tried EVERYTHING! I was so depressed about my weight. I was going to give MF a try and give it my all. The first three days were depressing. I missed my old friend, food. After the first 3 days, my spirits were lifted, I guess it was the ketosis. I lost 9 lbs. the first week, 4 the second, NONE the third (very normal), then about 2 each week after that. In 3 months I lost 42 lbs. I lost 18 lbs. per month for the first two months. I went on to lose 50 in 4 months. I lead a totally sugar-free lifestyle and watched all my carbs. I kept it all off during Halloween (2 kids, means lots of CANDY), Thanksgiving, and even Christmas. But, as I started transitioning and adding back carbs, the cravings were coming back. I allowed myself to cheat on Valentine's Day and that was it. I have gained back 12 lbs. and beat myself up about it. I will lose 5 or 6 and gain it right back. I am still struggling. I went back on MF today. I am making small goals, I told myself to stick with it and stay strong for 5 days. I will probably lose about 8 lbs. in 5 days. Then, I will reevaluate. I will either stay on it another 5 or try to transition again. Just set small goals, then it doesn't look so bad.
As far as taste, it is doable. I have not ever been able to tolerate any liquid diet but I was able to do this. I think the powder shakes are chalky, but here is a big secret: mix your shakes and put in the fridge over night. That dissolves more of the chalky particles and makes them a lot creamier. I can not drink a shake immediately after mixing. Also, I now buy the ready-to-drink shakes. They are a bit more costly, but having them ready in the fridge keeps me on track better. I like the chocolate mint bars and the chocolate bars. I didn't use any of the oatmeals or soups, I personally didn't like them.
I hope this info helps you. When I lost my weight I read the boards daily. I prayed for success for myself as well as the friends I made on the boards. Good luck!
