Gene
Congratulations on your weight loss. You look great. I think the last 10 lbs will come off so don't worry. You've come so far. I started Medifast 1 week ago so my journey has just begun. I've lost 6 lbs so far in the last 5 days, Wish me luck.

Hi Genie,

I am also a woman in my 40's, and trying to lose that last 10 pounds (to get down to my healthier size 10). I think that Hollywood ideals are way to unmanageable for women. A size 6 is tiny and very difficult to maintain. I was a size 6 at my wedding and I don't think I will ever be that thin again in my lifetime.

I think you are beautiful, inside and out, and have been a loyal General Hospital fan because of you! Focus on your health, not what size you are.

Thank you for sharing your story.

Hi Genie,
I have a suggestion. I lost 35lbs a couple of years ago. Each dress size I lost, I went out and bought a new wardrobe. Well I went from at 12 to a 0-2, so you can imagine how many "new wardrobes" I bought. A lot of wasted money. Many of the clothes still have the tags. I would only buy like 2 pants (black and jeans) at each stage and not a whole wardrobe. Wait until you get to the point where you are pefectly happy with your weight and don't plan to lose more, and keep it off for a month or 2 before buying the full wardrobe. You'll save a lot. Plus, if you buy a new wardrobe at your lowest weight and then gain some back, you won't be able to wear the wardrobe. That's why I say wait a couple of months.

genie,

i'm not on the diet. as a matter of fact i have medical problems that make it hard for me to gain weight, BUT thats a struggle in itself so i can relate and i truely admire your will to keep trying. you look wonderful! you know as a fan i love you at any size, but knowing your're happy and feeling good makes me happy. can't wait to see you in your new movie, and maybe someday back as the new, thinner laura. love and luck to you.

My husband and I are into the second week of the Medifast diet. So far so good. I wouldn't have done this but you inspired me so. I have lost 5 pounds and he has lost 4. The drinks are good, I am just having a hard time with some of the powder food. I'm starting to walk which I know will help..

I am very happy for you. You are on the downside of the diet program. I was wondering, how long has it taken you to lose weight? (I am not sure how much you wanted to lose in the first place)You sure look great! I want you back on GH.

Hi, Genie:

I totally agree with your outlook on how easy it is to get caught up in what we think others want for us. Obviously, there is even more pressure in your line of work! Just wanted to say I think you're fantastic - I tried to post something recently, but never saw it so am trying again. My grandmother, Lenore Kingston, was an ORIGINAL CAST MEMBER OF GH, (Mrs. Weeks). I've always been a fan and have been told many times "you look just like Genie Francis"...it is always a huge compliment!

Hang in there and be proud of your accomplishment! Let us know if you do go to Italy with the empty suitcases - that sounds wonderful!

All the best,

Jen

It has been such a long time since your last entry, I was curious how you are doing? Your journey has been very encouraging, it would be nice to hear from you again. Sending good thoughts your way.

Hi Genie,

Just goes to show us, we are all human with the same struggles and fears, yes, there I said it fears. The last 10 is like the first 10 and the middle 10. These places we hit and have to adjust. The mind does matter even if it is subconscious. Try a wonderful self hypnosis cd. It helps with the obsessive thought processes. Good luck and happy you are here.
