Breaking Through

I broke my two-week plateau this morning! What a great feeling! I’ll probably go back to a 2-pound per week weight loss now. I can’t believe how much my body has changed. This is really fun!

I’ve been thinking about how I want to celebrate when I reach my goal. For years I’ve had this fantasy about going to Italy with empty suitcases. Jonathan and I talked about it— and we’re going to do it! I’m going to give myself a full new wardrobe and a new look. I can’t think of a better way to reward myself.

I had more visitors this week. My oldest and dearest friend visited Maine with her family, and it’s been wonderful. I hope your week is going well, and that you’re planning your victory celebration, too.

Congratulations, Genie!! What a wonderful way to celebrate your achievement - - you lucky, lucky girl!! The tone of your posts is so wonderfully positive, it is infectious!

Hope you had a ball with your friend. Oldest friends truly are the best, aren’t they?

Keep up the great work!

Genie,
Congratulations on such great success. I admire your dedication to the program. I am off and on all the time with the program. I was so busy this summer with running the kids back and fourth to ball games and such, that I couldn’t focus. I will start to really focus now that school is starting soon, I can go to the gym and work out after dropping the kids off and really try hard. I need to do this for myself.
Again, congrats on your success and I admire everything yu do.

Oh Genie!
Congratulations! Italy sounds wonderful and empty suitcases to fill even better. No one deserves it more than you.
When I reach my goal, I’d like to visit Belfast and see The Cherished Home….perhaps, give you that hug [if you’re there] that’s been waiting 30 years.
It was rainy here today and I had my Medifast chicken noodle soup. It was good. I’m in a plateau at the moment but I feel on the cusp of a good drop in pounds. I can’t wait for that moment. The most important thing is not to get discouraged, and I’m trying….
There’s nothing better than spending time with old friends! It feels like wearing a comfortable pair of jeans, doesn’t it? I just spent the weekend with a bunch of girlfriends in Washington, D.C.; we celebrated my 44th birthday which was Monday.
I hope you continue to celebrate yourself!
I send you butterflies ;-)

Congratulations on a successful week! Italy here you come! Let that be your mantra - see all those beautiful new clothes and you standing there looking fabulous in them. When the peanut butter jar comes calling, that will give you something to focus on. Keep it up!

Italy with empty suitcases - how cool is that! Somewhere along the line I missed the fashion gene so I can admire a great outfit vicariously.

My reward? When my son was 16, he designed a tattoo just for me and I’ve been carrying that image (mentally) for six years - knowing that someday I would indeed reach my goal.
With Medifast, I now believe that goal is indeed possible!

Congratulations on breaking through that plateau.

Dear Genie,
Congratulations! You are still the most beautiful star in daytime. Those execs at GH are crazy not to have you come back ANY way you want to come back. There’s nobody I’d rather see on daytime that Luke and Laura:) Oh, buon viaggio. Enjoy Italy AND the great shopping!

Congratulations, Genie! That’s great that you passed the plateau and what a nice celebration you have planned!

You’re so inspiring, I know I can reach my goal too! Thanks!

I ran into you at your store in Belfast on July 24th…and your daughter took a picture of us together. I wanted to tell you how fantastic you look…just like you did on GH when I started watching years ago! I need to lose weight myself, so maybe I will try Medifast, since it is working so great for you!

I have always loved you. You and I are about the same size when we are up and down.. Medifast has always been a friend to me.. Now I have a 30 lb albatross around my middle.. He turned around and looked cane and 30 lbs over weight..

He is special man to look past it all and see me…I am a beleiver that you need to do the soups and shakes until you get a hold on a regular weight loss.. Genie

I will give you a big hooray from Peggy in Atlanta.. when you are little like us a little bit of weight is alot more…

I will plan a great new wardrobe also.. with all the gala I go to in Atlanta.. I love seeing my man strut his stuff.. He is so special

Thanks for the inspiration

Go.. Italy will be here before you know it.

Hi Genie;
I just wanted to say that since i have watched you on TV for nearly 30 years, you have never been more beautiful than you are now. Your comments are so inspiring, that I am going to try this program. I’ve been on a number of weight loss programs that just haven’t worked for me. I truly hope that Medifast can help me shed the 70 extra pounds that I have been carrying around for many years. I am 50 now and it seems even harder to lose the weight then it did even 5 years ago. With your continued comments on this sight, I will have the power to do it this time.
Good luck shopping in Italy and…YOU GO GIRL!

Genie, I have been a fan of yours for a long time. I’ve been watch GH for more most of my life it seems. I saw your commercial on Medifast tonight. I am really proud of you for doing this, and you have given me something to think about here. I want to lose weight so badly. I will be 50 next month, plus I am a diabetic with high blood pressure. I need to do this to save my life.
Have fun on your trip. You do deserve it. Many hug’s, Lynda
P.S My husband and I both love your husband too. Take care, and keep up the good work.

For the last two days, I’ve I sat on York Beach and watched all these great and not so great bodies stroll by and thought ” I should be on Medifast like Genie is, just a few miles away.” I’ve logged on. The first step? I only have 15 maybe 20 pounds to lose. BUT I need support. I hope I can find it here.

Go Genie, go! You are gorgeous, and getting more gorgeous by the day! The GH execs better watch it, or they will loose you to bigger and better offers. I am so happy for your successes - both professionally and with your weight loss.

I am such a huge Medifast fan - it is so empowering! I’ve lost 30 lbs, and even though I am thrilled with my weight, I’m going to loose 10 more. Why? Because I CAN. I’m in control. It is just too awesome. I’m 44 and I feel like I’m 20 again - no, I feel better than I did at 20. I’m trimmer, stronger, smarter, and just more comfortable in my skin than I was at 20.

So go, Genie, go! Show Hollywood how REAL WOMEN become more beautiful, talented and sexy with age.

Congrats on your success! I have been on Medifast for about 3 months and i have lost 20 LBS so far. I am now on a plateau but I still continue to walk 3-4 miles each day so I am hoping to see some results really soon.

Have fun on your trip.

Hi Genie,
I just wanted to say how much I admired your willingness to be so open about your progress. We eat as a community, it makes sense that we try to loose weight as a community, but everyone is so sensitive about every aspect that we keep it to ourselves. We get so much more done when we do it with support.

Your openess has made me try harder to loose the 20 pounds that have crept up on me. Thank you, and congratulations on your progess.

Congratulations Genie! I just turned 40 this year and decided this is my year! I have struggled with my weight for about the last 12 years and I am done! When I saw that you were a spokesperson for Medifast, that was my tipping point to just go for it. I am already seeing results.

In my 20’s people used tell me “you look like Genie Francis” and I always considered it a huge compliment.

Lastly, and maybe of interest to you - my grandmother, Lenore Kingston Jensen, was one of the original cast members of GH. She played Mrs. Weeks.

So glad you are doing well - you look fantastic and are an inspiration!!

All the best to you and yours…

Hi Genie,
First of all, i want to say that i have always been a fan of your acting. You are truly awesome.
I have been struggling with my weight for years, and i started to give up, and just live with the fact that i am going to be overweight for the rest of my life. But, i don’t want to give up. I am worried about my health. I know i can have better eating habits if i just try, so you have inspired me to try Medifast.
I know this will work for me, i know that at times i will get frustrated, but since i don’t have a scale at home, it might be a little easier.
Thank you for the inspiration, and i wish you continued success with your medifast plan.
Take care, and may God bless you always.

Hi Genie..;)
You are doing so well and are so strong, I admire you. I have watched you on GH since you first went on. I am in my 40’s and feel like i grew up with you, sorta. I think you have always looked beautiful all through the years. You seem to glow and even more so now.
I wondered if you ever read the message board at Generalhospital.about.com., because when you left last time , there was such an outcry..well, I won’t get into it but you are thought of very highly there!
Keep up the good work, you look fantastic!

Sincerely,
Pam

Hope you’ll be coming back to GH soon; have watched you from the beginning and missed you all these years. I especially loved you and Lulu; you really could pass for mother and daughter. Hope to see you soon.

Congratulations Genie on your weight loss!! I just wanted you to know I joined this site because I saw you were a part of it. I have been watching you since you joined GH (same age, feeling a bit old!) and have followed your struggles with weight in the same way - kids, busy, life takes over. When I started researching weight loss options & saw you I decided it was the place for me!! Thanks for sharing your experience & continued success for all of us!!

Congrats on the weight loss and the well deserved Emmy! And I know Italy is in your future too!

Genie, Not once has there been a time that I have seen you on TV or in a picture that I didn’t wish that I was half as beautiful as you. However, I admire your courage to go after what you want. It is way easier to just go with the quick comfort. So, congratulations and enjoy those teeny clothes you deserve it.

Hi Genie, I always watched you on the soaps back in the 80’s.
Just saw how much weight you’ve lost, and I too have gained a good 30 lbs. I noticed how differently people treat you when you gain some weight and it’s so hurtful.

I would like to know how long did it take for you to loose the weight being on medifast, and how long did it take before you noticed it was working.

Hoping it would work for me. Over weight in Hawaii.
